African American Community

Goins of GoKash Productions has awakened many with his award winning stage
play VI Degrees. The play is centralized around the consequences of unprotected
sex, prostitution, adultery, and living on the "down low" can
attribute to the high rate of HIV/AIDS amongst African Americans. Kash
describes GoKash Production as providing "high quality entertainment
and social awareness". He also communicates the root of his interest
in this subject. According to Kash, he knew of quite a few unfortunate
circumstances with victims of HIV/AIDS. One in particularly involving
two young girls living in different states, they were both adopted and
infected with HIV at birth from their birth mother.

violence is no stranger to Essence best-selling author Brenda L. Thomas
who, after having success with several novels decided to pen her memoir,
Laying Down My Burdens. After ending a violent marriage of 15
years, during which her husband threatened her with death if she were
to ever pen her story, Ms. Thomas is speaking out on the violence that
erupted between Rihanna and Chris Brown and most recently the report of
BeBe Winans arrest. "It's important that individuals in the public
eye make it their priority to see domestic violence awareness become as
much a part of public efforts as breast cancer and other ills and not
just mere entertainment," says Ms. Thomas.

Celeb Returns Home For Radio-One Music & Entertainment Conference

University of the Arts student CiCi Kelley, now one of entertainment's
A-list choreographers and producers, will be in Philadelphia from March
13 – 16, 2009 on an extensive public relations and artistic tour.
One of her major stops will be at Radio-One's 2nd Annual Music & Entertainment
Conference at the Philadelphia Marriott on Sunday March 15 at 12:30pm.
She and legendary choreographer Fatima Robinson (the artistic vision behind
Dreamgirls and the 2009 Oscar Awards) will sit on an expert panel for
