This week on the show in our Entertainment news section, my co-host Lauren Sizzle of We Talk Weekly’s, ” After The Talk”, gave the Sizzle on our boy Hov.
Jay Z Songwriters Hall of Fame:
Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, 2017 is already being good to rapper Jay Z, especially with his recent induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame by Former President Barack Obama. Mr. Obama’s two minute pre-recorded speech was heart-touching as he mentioned, “…We know what it’s like not to have a father around, we know what it’s like not to come from much, and to know people who didn’t get the same breaks that we did.” Obama continued, “So we try to prop open those doors of opportunity so that it’s a little easier for those who come up behind us to succeed as well.”
The former POTUS also stated how he listed to Jay when he was young and sampled his music to close his speech at Selma. Obama took pride in saying that “he was pretty sure he was the only President to listen to Jay Z’s music in the oval office”. Obama expressed that Jay was inspiring him to be active in his retirement just as Jay Z has been in his retirement.
According to USA Today, Jay Z took to Twitter to acknowledge some of those who have inspired him such as Biggie, 2PAC, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Snoop, Diddy, Kendrick Lamar and several others.
Jay Z just became a father for the 2nd and 3rd time. Jay and wife Beyonce welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, who are still in the hospital because they were premature, but the health issues are reportedly minor. Prayers up for the twins! Hov, who has a fascination for the number “4”, also announced his new album titled “4:44” to be released on June 30th.
